Two-Handed Weapons Guide

Maximum damage, no shield — when to commit to two hands.

Last updated:

Two-handed weapons in One More Delve deliver the highest damage per hit in the game. They are the preferred choice for players who have mastered combat mechanics and want maximum dungeon clear speed.

Two-Handed Weapon Types

Warhammers

The heaviest two-handed option. Warhammers deal the highest damage per swing in the game. Their major drawback is the slowest swing cycle — you are committed to a full 1.5-second swing animation before you can attack again.

Best for: Players with perfect enemy pattern knowledge who can safely commit to full swings.

Greataxes

The balanced two-handed option. Greataxes deal less damage per hit than warhammers but swing approximately 30% faster. This makes them more forgiving in combat.

Best for: Players transitioning from sword-and-shield who want to experience two-handed power without the full commitment of a warhammer.

Two-Handed Swords

The fastest two-handed option. Two-handed swords deal less damage than greataxes but have the fastest swing cycle, making them more practical in fast-paced combat.

Best for: Players who want two-handed damage but need the responsiveness for high-difficulty content.

How to Equip Two-Handed Weapons

Two-handed weapons require both controllers. To equip:

  1. Reach for the weapon at your waist or shoulder holster.
  2. Grip the trigger on BOTH controllers simultaneously.
  3. The weapon will appear in both hands.

If you release either controller grip, the weapon returns to your holster.

Combat Strategy

Positioning

With no shield, positioning is your only defensive tool. Never engage multiple enemies head-on. Pull one enemy at a time, use doorways and corners to limit flanking angles.

Swing Discipline

The same phasing rules that apply to one-handed weapons are amplified with two-handed weapons. Full committed swings only. Never attempt half-swings or quick jabs — these will phase through enemies without dealing damage.

Group Fighting

Two-handed weapons excel at group room clears because of their wide swing arc. Sweep through multiple enemies in a single swing when enemies are clustered together.

Loadout Recommendations

Two-handed weapons pair well with:

  • Lightning spell on one hand (for ranged backup)
  • Potion on the other (for emergency healing)
  • No second weapon (both hands are occupied)

For Dungeon 5 and Nightmare difficulty, two-handed weapons are viable only if you have mastered phasing-free swing technique and are playing in co-op where a teammate can cover defensive gaps.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about One More Delve.

What two-handed weapons are available in One More Delve?

Two-handed weapons include warhammers, greataxes, and two-handed swords. As of the 1.0 release, 10 new weapons were added, including additional two-handed variants not available during Early Access.

Do two-handed weapons deal more damage than one-handed weapons?

Yes. Two-handed weapons deal approximately 1.5x to 2x the damage per hit compared to one-handed weapons. However, their swing cycle is proportionally slower.

Can I use a two-handed weapon and a shield?

No. Two-handed weapons require both hands. You cannot equip a shield while using a two-handed weapon.

Are two-handed weapons affected by the phasing issue?

Yes. Two-handed weapons have longer collision geometry and are more prone to phasing if swung carelessly. The longer weapon arc requires more deliberate swing technique.
